Today I took Big Sissy to her good friends 5Th b-day party (they have the same birthday, only born about an hour apart). It was the cutest party I have ever been to. It was a "Princess Tea Party". 10 girls showed up all dressed in their favorite princess outfit. (Big Sissy chose to wear her sleeping beauty costume from Halloween 2008) They immediately began a chain of crafts. First they got to decorate their own gold napkin ring, then they threaded their cloth napkin and went and placed it at the formal dinning table by their name card! Next they decorated paper crowns with beads and markers, they were later used for "pin the tiara on the princess" game. Following that it was time to make jewelery at the jewelery station! When the girls had made their craft rounds they all were seated and it was time for Tea and lunch. They had turkey sandwiches cut into tiaras! And magic fruit kabob wands, topped with a huge cantaloupe star! They indulged in chocolate covered strawberries and Pink tea with ALL the sugar cubes they wanted! After lunch they had adorable princess topped cupcakes and ice cream cups, which they devoured! After that it was time for games... they played 5 or 6 games, all princess related... there was the tiara game I mentioned earlier, hot potato with a tiara and wand, musical throne's, a counting dance game (the music was all from a Disney soundtrack), a dance off to see who could dance with their balloon between their feet the longest, and lastly a relay called pass the royal egg! After all the games and prizes were won all the girls sat down and watched the birthday girl open her gifts. And her mom took a picture of the birthday and her gift with the girl who gave it to her. SUCH a great idea, she didn't have to write it all down (and she said is planning on making personalized thank you cards with those photos). Needless to say I was AMAZED by the attention to detail. They whole party went so smoothly! And needless to say, it was a princess' dream party!
Well, Big Sissy's party is next weekend... and lets just say I will be embarrassed by my lack of organization and theme loyalty! My daughter wants a Princess Tiana, Soccer and Hearts themed party! Talk about eclectic! Oh well, it's her special day, so she will get just what she wants, tackiness and all!
